This week we look at how to focus using appreciation.
With regards to the Law of Attraction this must be one of the most important keys to achieving happiness. Let’s face it….that is what everyone is striving for….happiness. We all think it will be when we win the lottery, when we snag our ‘soul mate’, when we are healthy again, when, when, when, when, when.
That is the biggest illusion of all. There is no when. There is only now. There is only this moment!!
You can’t find happiness, you have to be happy. Happiness lives within you, not outside of you.
The first step is to stop comparing yourself to everyone else. Every single person is living as the star of their own show. Each of us has the lead role. We have a lot of co-stars and extras and funnily enough we are also a co-star or extra in their show. The only role that we have any control over is our own.
If you continually compare yourself to everyone else you will go mad and it will cause you to remain out of alignment!!! It doesn’t matter what everyone else has or doesn’t have. There will always be someone better off and someone worse off than you and where they are and what they have is none of your business.
The only focus you need to concentrate on is whether or not you are happy and how to move up your emotional gauge. As you move up your emotional gauge you move towards alignment with who you really are, which is where all your manifestations are patiently waiting for you.
How do you reach for this place? How do you move up your emotional gauge? How do you become happier?
Recently, I had a client ask what the difference was between gratitude and appreciation as she had heard something, somewhere that they weren’t, in fact, equal vibrations.
I told her about Abraham & Esther Hicks explanation.
“Appreciation and gratitude are not the same vibrational essence. Appreciation and love are identical vibrations. Appreciation is the absence of resistance. Appreciation is the absence of everything that feels bad and the presence of everything that feels good. Gratitude usually comes from looking at a struggle that you have overcome and feeling grateful ‘in other words’ happy that you’re not still in the struggle but you are still messing with that vibration, just a little bit. Appreciation is being tuned in, tapped in, turned on. Appreciation is being in vibrational alignment with who I have become. Appreciation is me being in sync with the whole of that which I am. Appreciation is seeing whatever I’m looking at through the eyes of source. The difference between appreciation and gratitude is similar to the difference between inspiration and motivation. Inspiration is being called to who you are and motivation is trying to make yourself go somewhere.” – Abraham (Esther Hicks)
So rather than show gratitude or being grateful, be appreciative!! Appreciate, appreciate, appreciate!! Love, love love!!!
I hear a whole lot of people say ‘Ugh’ simultaneously. How can I be happy with what I have? I’m not happy with what I have!!! I want more, I don’t want to be where I am. This is a ‘catch 22’. It’s fantastic that you are experiencing a conflicting thought or emotion as that propels your desire, however, in order to reach your desire, you have to become a vibrational match and staying in your conflicting thought or emotion is not a match.
The way to move up your emotional gauge, the way to get closer to alignment, the way to feel happier is to appreciate.
The best way to do this is to start small.
Start by looking at your body. What do you appreciate about it? Do you appreciation the fact that it’s in good health? Do you appreciate the fact that you can walk, talk, see, hear and taste? Do you appreciate the fact that your heart keeps beating even though you don’t have to manually think about it to make it beat? Do you appreciate the fact that your lungs inhale and exhale all on their own without you having to think ‘inhale’ and ‘exhale’?
What about your immediate surroundings? Do you appreciate the chair you’re sitting on, so you don’t have to sit on the floor? Do you appreciate the clothes on your body that are helping you to stay cool or warm? Do you appreciate the sun penetrating your skin and giving you a boost of Vitamin D? Do you appreciate the cold snow outside that means you get to put your cosy fire on inside or even allows you to play by making ‘snowmen’?
As you find things to appreciate, your appreciation also grows. As you find things to appreciate, the universe sends you more to appreciate. This is how you become in alignment with your intended manifestations. The funny thing is that as you appreciate, you become so happy that you no longer feel the ‘need’ for what you desired and you no longer care if it manifests. Then Voila!! There it is!! You asked, you allowed and you received!!
I read a story recently about ‘appreciation stones’. It’s just a stone you pick up and as you hold onto it you think of all the things you appreciate in your life. Then you simply pop it in your pocket and off you go. Throughout the day, whenever you place your hand in your pocket, you also happen to touch the stone, thereby triggering another round of appreciation.
This can be done with a myriad of items or even trigger points/words and this is the exercise for this week. Find something that works for you, it can be a stone, a necklace, an earring or even a place on your body or a particular word (like love for instance). It can be when you touch your temples or your eyebrow or every time you think of or say a word. Every time you touch the item or area or think of/say a word of your choosing, you just think of everything that you appreciate in your life.
It works wonders and as you practice, you gain momentum. It will be interesting to see how quickly things start to improve.
